Your Wooden Windows no longer need to be bare or just white.
Whether you are choosing your new wooden windows to replace existing frames or working on a full home renovation project, you now have more options to help your windows stand out or blend in.
Timber windows are often supplied either bare or primed, with all the finishing work, including hand painting each frame individually left to the homeowner or a skilled professional. This can mean waiting longer, sometimes weeks or months for your window project to be fully complete. Not only does this mean that you are waiting to see the beautiful finished job, but your windows could be exposed to the elements such as moisture and UV damage.
Save Time on Installation
By choosing fully finished timber windows, you are saving so much time on installation. The windows come already protected with a preservative, primer and two coats of water-borne high quality topcoat paint. This mean all fixtures and hardware can be installed onto the window before it is delivered, leaving only the glazing to do.
An industry first Wooden Windows are now able to offer fully-finished windows with a lead time of just 4 weeks. That is less than half the time it takes other suppliers to provide fully finished windows.
Make them Last a Lifetime
Choosing a fully finished painted window also provides enhanced resistance against the elements, reduces maintenance costs and extends the lifespan of your windows. New wooden frames can be susceptible to swelling and cracking if not treated and protected in the right way.
A four coat finish is applied in our purpose built spray booth, which is in a factory controlled environment providing optimal conditions for spray application and quality assurance. This will protect your windows from sun, rain and fluctuating temperatures as well as premature ageing of the wood material.
By choosing a factory finish you are also ensuring a deep and even coverage, no brush stroke marks or imperfections but in keeping with the aesthetic appeal of your wooden windows.
Customise to Suit the Property Style
Painting timber windows offers both the warmth and charm of real wood, but with the convenience of being able to match your properties style. Whether you are in a newly built contemporary home or a traditional heritage property you can make sure your windows impress and stand the test of time.
After speaking with our customers we have selected the most popular range of paint colours so you can customise your external windows to suit your property style. For contemporary modern properties in urban environments choose a white, anthracite grey or jet black, for countryside living or period properties cream, sage grey or heritage green would be the perfect pairing.
What wood material and window styles are there to choose from?
Fully finished painted windows are best applied to Pine, Sapele and Accoya® and are available in both casement ranges: The Trentham Stormproof (Lipped Casement Window) and The Staffordshire (Flush Casement Window). Sliding sash windows are also available but with a slightly longer lead time of 6-8 weeks.
What about Oak timber windows?
Painting Oak windows is generally discouraged because it masks the woods high-end, natural grain and creates a high-maintenance cycle; as the dense wood naturally expands and contracts with temperature changes, the paint is prone to cracking and peeling, requiring frequent sanding and repainting. Unlike softer woods, Oak contains tannins that can bleed through the paint over time, often resulting in unsightly yellowish or brown stains that ruin the finish.
